Aru Valley The Unexploited Beauty
Aru Valley is a small beautiful and yet self-sufficient scenic village located 15 km from Pahalgam. The location of the village among the snow capped peaks and grasslands make this place a tourist delight . It is reachable by walking along a mountainous path. The village also serves as the starting point for trekking to Kolahoi glacier. Besides this, the valley is also known to be a good site for camping. Instead of taking the regular pony ride it is recommended that tourists explore the surrounding valley on foot to get a full sense of its beauty.
The Aru valley is noted for its scenic meadows. It is popular among the tourists for its peaceful environment and scenic beauty. There are about 20 alpine lakes, peaks and meadows around the Aru Valley.
With snow-clad peaks on one hand and fluorescent green valleys on the other, with streams flowing on one side and sheep grazing on the other – Aru valley is surely an incredible tourist location.

However, the best time to visit is Aru valley is except July-August because during the rainy season, chance of landslides occur in mountain regions. Hence, during except monsoon you can enjoy the best of Aru Valley.
IDEAL DURATION- There is no ideal duration to it, you can spend unlimited time here. The place is so beautiful that you will never want to leave the place. But we suggest you to atleast spend 5 days here and explore the nearby surroundings.

- You must go for a horse ride and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. You can just relax and enjoy the scenic landscape.
- Fishing in Aru river is yet another major tourist attraction of Aru. We suggest you to go for fishing in Aru river in the evening and get to see the beautiful sunset from there.
- It is base for the treks to Lidderwat, the Vishansar-Kishansar lakes. Aru is also the base camp of Kolahoi, the largest glacier in the Kashmir Valley, and is located near Mt. Kolahoi (5425m), the highest peak in the Valley. So if you love adventure, you can go for trekking.
- You can also do other adventure activities like hiking, skiing, heli- skiing and get the adrenaline rush pumping in your blood.
